Born in Bangor Maine, Dr. Knowles always dreamt of being a doctor.  He pursued this dream at the University of Maine.  It was in a physiology class during his pre-med studies, that a professor made the statement that our bodies have the ability to heal themselves.   This revelation sparked his desire to research ways to facilitate the natural process of healing.

 

Dr. Knowles graduated from the pre-med program at the Univeristy of Maine in 1975 with a B.A. in Zoology.  He then went on to graduate from the National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Illinois with a B.S. in Human Biology and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree.

 

Moving back to Maine in 1982, Dr. Knowles obtained an advanced certication as a Fellow of the American Society of Acupuncturists & to earn Diplomate of the American Academy of Chiropractic Acupuncturists. 

 

He has been practicing chiropractic and chiropractic acupuncture in Bass Harbor since 1983 where he resides with his wife, Mari. 
 

Knowles sang with with the Acadia Choral Society and served on the board of directors for almost 20 years.  He now sings with & is a board member for the Bagaduce Chorale Society in Blue Hill.  He leads an active, healthy life with activities such as  cycling and boating.
